ABOUT THE MOVE TO ST. ANNE'S PARISH HALL
NEW BUILDING
TRANSITIONING: THE WORKMAN ARTS CREATIVE CENTRE
On April 27, 2009 Workman Arts will move to a temporary home for the duration of the redevelopment of its current location.
This redevelopment is part of the much larger Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) project currently underway. The goal is to transform the face of addiction and mental health treatment in Toronto and bring new pride to CAMH and to the city. CAMH is building a neighbourhood centred on care — an urban setting with streets, parks and a healthy mix of uses and activities. Gone will be the atmosphere of stigma that hangs over the current site, replaced with a safe, comfortable and welcoming environment that empowers Members, clients and staff.
An exceptional part of this new facility will be the Workman Arts Creative Centre. The vision for the Centre is that of a unique state-of-the-art facility, which will allow Workman Arts to not only grow its existing programming but also expand the depth and breadth of services offered to its Members. It will house a fully accessible arts and learning centre that including a 450 seat theatre, storefront visual art gallery, artists’ studios, digital media studio and rehearsal spaces.
