J. Simpson Studio

THE GORD LOVE STUDIO at 651 Dufferin

Workman Arts offers dedicated working studio space for member artists as well as artists who receive services from CAMH. The Gord Love studio (formerly, the Jean Simpson Studio) provides our community of visual artists with much needed physical space for creating as well as professional space for peer collaboration and mentoring. The studio is managed by a Visual Artist in Residence with participating artists contributing to the daily operations. Artists access the space is free of charge through short-term studio residencies of three months. Currently the studio accommodates working space for four artists per three month term (including the Artist in Residence). During this period artists develop their portfolios, refine their work or focus on a specific body of work or project.

Studio hours are 9:30am to 4:30 pm on weekdays (excluding holidays).

Fall applications will be accepted for Short-Term Studio Residence as part of Fall Program Registration. Applicants must have successfully completed either Art Studio Fundamentals or WA Mentoring program or be able to demonstrate sufficient skill and working knowledge of studio materials and practices through presentation of their portfolio and interview. All applicants will be interviewed and reviewed by Chris Mitchell and WA Artist in Residence.
